
It goes far beyond the core set of muscles however and provides a complete body workout which lengthens, tones and strengthens muscles all over the body. It incorporates a level of mental concentration,focus on posture, relaxation and use of breathing which leave you feeling taller, toned, more relaxed, energised and stronger. It develops an awareness of how the body works, helping your mind and body to work in harmony.
Pilates is a fantastic form of exercise especially for those who suffer from back pain and postural problems or women who want to gain strength and tone after having children. It also offers more than just a workout as it’s use of breathing, flow, awareness of the body and concentration lend it an almost meditative quality.
Jo's teaching is both friendly, and accessible whilst still encouraging students to stay true to some of the basic Pilates principles of precision, focus, relaxation and concentration.
After a number of years of studying Pilates and seeing and feeling the amazing benefits for herself, Jo trained as an Instructor. She is fully qualified, insured and is a member of The Register of Exercise Professionals which is a trade body for the Fitness Industry and ensures a level of qualifications and professionalism amongst it's members.
One of the provisos of being a member is that you are involved in continuous professional development. To this end Jo has completed an Impover / Intermediate Level Instructor training and an Advanced Level Instructor training. She has also recently completed Pregnancy & Post Natal Pilates Training with the APPI (Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute)


Also most recently Jo attended a masterclass by the internationally respected teacher, Californian based Julian Littleford and with Alan Herdman a leading Pilates figure who trained with a first generation teacher in the 1970’s in America and is credited with bringing Pilates to Britain.
Jo regularly attends workshops and lectures on various subjects around Health, Nutrition and Pilates.
